Privacy Policy
Voharvod is built to keep a cherished tradition effortless while respecting your privacy. This policy explains how the Voharvod website and app handle information.
The short version
You can calculate a Voharvod without an account, and that calculation runs on your device. If you choose to sign in, Voharvod lets you share Voharvods with family, sync to Google Calendar and receive reminders — features that need to store some data on our servers and, with your explicit permission, connect to your Google account. We only access what each feature needs, and we never sell your data or use it for advertising.
The calculator on this website
The Voharvod calculator on this website runs entirely in your browser. The date you enter is used only to compute your result on your device and is not transmitted to or stored on our servers.
Accounts and sign-in
To use shared families, calendar sync and reminders, you create an account with your email and a password, or with Sign in with Google. When you use Google sign-in, we receive your name, email address and Google account identifier to create and secure your account. We do not receive your Google password.
Information you add
The core lunar-birthday calculation works on your device. When you sign in and use shared families, the family members, relations, birth dates and the families you create or join are stored on our servers so that the people you invite can see the shared entries. Members of a family can see the entries shared in that family; personal entries you do not share with a family remain private to your account.
Google Calendar (optional)
If you tap “Sync to Google Calendar,” we ask your permission to manage calendars on your behalf. With that permission, Voharvod creates a dedicated “Voharvod” calendar in your Google account and adds birthday and Voharvod events (about three years ahead) with reminders. Voharvod only reads and writes the events it creates in that calendar — it does not read your other calendars or events. You can remove everything Voharvod added with a single tap (“Unsync”), or revoke access anytime in your Google Account permissions.
Google Contacts (optional)
If you tap “Find friends” / “Invite from Contacts,” we ask your permission to read your contacts. We use your contact list only on your device and in that moment to (a) show which of your contacts are already Voharvod users so you can connect, and (b) let you send an invite through your phone’s share sheet. We do not store your contacts on our servers, and we do not sell or share them. You can revoke access anytime in your Google Account permissions.
Notifications
If you enable reminders, we store a device push token so we can send notifications ahead of each birthday and Voharvod. You can turn notifications off in your device settings at any time.
How Google user data is used (Limited Use)
Voharvod’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google Calendar and Google Contacts data are used only to provide and improve the features described above, are never transferred to others except as needed to provide those features or as required by law, are never used for advertising, and are never sold.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your account and shared-family data until you delete it or close your account. You can leave a family, delete entries you added, unsync your calendar, or request account deletion by emailing us; deleting your account removes your data from our servers.
Analytics
We may use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics to understand how the website and app are used and to improve them. This does not identify you personally.
Children
Voharvod is a family tradition app suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from children for advertising or profiling.
